Leonardo DiCaprio, Greta Thunberg, nagtutulungan vs climate change

Nagtutulungan ang American actor at environmentalist na si Leonardo DiCaprio at ang 16-anyos na Swedish climate activist na si Greta Thunberg sa pagsugpo sa climate change.

Sa isang Instagram post sinabi ni DiCaprio na siya, kasama si Greta, ay nangangako na susuportahan ang isa’t-isa sa pag-asang masiguro ang magandang hinaharap para sa mundo.

“She and I have made a commitment to support one another, in hopes of securing a brighter future for our planet.”

“There are few times in human history where voices are amplified at such pivotal moments and in such transformational ways – but @GretaThunberg has become a leader of our time….I hope that Greta’s message is a wake-up call to world leaders everywhere that the time for inaction is over,” ani DiCaprio sa kanyang tweet.

Kasama rin sa post ang larawan nila ni Greta.

Dagdag pa ng actor: “History will judge us for what we do today to help guarantee that future generations can enjoy the same livable planet that we have so clearly taken for granted”.

Sinabi rin ng aktor na siya ay “optimistic” sa hinaharap, dahil sa mga effort ni Greta at iba pang kabataang aktibista. 

“It was an honour to spend time with Greta,” ani DiCaprio.

Si DiCaprio, na huling bumida sa pelikula ni Quentin Tarantino na Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, ay isang aktibong climate change campaigner.  Sa kanyang acceptance speech sa 88th Academy Awards noong 2016, binigyang diin niya ang kahalagahan ng pangangalaga sa kalikasan.

“Climate change is real, it is happening right now. It is the most urgent threat facing our entire species, and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating,” diin ni DiCaprio.
