Passport-on-wheels at Boracay and Kalibo

So summer is about to roll in and you are excited to head on to your dream destination, or perhaps, to an out-of-the-country getaway for a well-deserved R&R. You started to tick off the items at your Vacation To-do list, booked your ticket and started working out to get your summer body ready. But ooopppss, you discovered that your passport’s validity had expired and, worse, your vacation buddy doesn’t even have one!

Indeed, your passport is the most important travel document (apart from visas and ticket) for any trip abroad. According to usejournal.com, a passport is a document which is issued by a country to its citizens as a proof of citizenship and thus facilitating international travel”. Simply put, having a passport means that your country has allowed you to travel around the world. So to ensure that you will hit no snags when travelling, having a valid passport is key.

Is it a problem? Well, not for Aklanons. Yes, you no longer have to take that long trip to Iloilo just to process your passport because CityMall, both Kalibo and Boracay, is now hosting passport processing of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

In a statement, CityMalls Commercial Centers, Inc. said that it signed a memorandum of agreement with the DFA to hold Passport-on-Wheels tour in CityMalls around the country, Aklan included. “We are glad to be working with important government agencies, like the DFA among others, to make the lives of Filipinos better by helping them in cascading their services with efficiency and convenience. These kinds of initiatives are aligned with the government’s thrust to make the Philippine economy more inclusive and help improve the lives of the people, especially in the provinces,” said DoubleDragon Chairman Edgar “Injap” J. Sia II.

The schedule of passport processing for Aklan is as follows:

CityMall-Kalibo:
