Ramirez, hangad ang 20 athleta na sasabak sa 2020 Tokyo Olympics

Inaasahang aabot sa 20 ang bilang ng mga Pinoy athletes ang sasabak sa Olympic Games na gagawin sa Tokyo, Japan sa susunod na taon.

Ito ang saad ni Philippine Sports Commission chairman William ‘Butch’ Ramirez para sa paghahanda sa torneo.

Nauna nang nag-qualify sa 2020 Tokyo Olympics sina gymnast Carlos Edriel Yulo at pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena, na sinundan naman nina boxer Nesthy Petecio, weightlifter na si Hidilyn Diaz at skateboarder na si Margielyn Didal.

Bukod sa kanila, umaasa rin si Ramirez na ma-qualify sa 2020 Tokyo Olympics sina boxer Eumir Felix Marcial, skateboarding Fil-Japanese Judoka at judo Kiyomi Watanabe.

“If we come up with 20 qualified candidates, I think that will be one of the biggest Philippine delegations to the Olympics.” wika ni Philippine Sports Commission chairman William ‘Butch’ Ramirez.

“Dapat kapag may mga batang potensyal, ibuhos na natin ‘yung suporta.” sabi pa nito.

Samantala, taong 1972, ang may pinakamaraming bilang ng atletang naisabak ng bansa sa Olympics na may 53.
