Pinayuhan ni Top Rank Promotions Chief Bob Arum ang Filipino eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao na mag-retiro na lamang kung hindi matutuloy ang rematch nito sa undefeated American fighter Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
Sa maraming taon na nakasama at pag-promote sa mga laban ni Pacquaio, aminado ito na hindi magagawaran ang kapasidad ni Pacquiao pagdating sa boksing.
Ngunit, aniya’y, malapit nang mag-41 anyos si Pacquaio at hindi ito makakabuti sa kalusugan ng senador.
“Pacquiao, I promoted him for many, many years. He’s an exceptionally good human being, really a fine guy, extraordinarily charitable and a delight,” wika ni Arum.
“But he’s (almost) 41-years-old. And if you’re 41 you can’t take punishment. You can’t take blows like he did in the Thurman fight. Sure, he won that fight – but he took a lot of punishment. That punishment is going to have a serious effect on how he lives the rest of is life,” ani Arum.
Gayunpaman, wala pang pinal na desisyon ang Team Pacquiao kung sino ang sunod na makakalaban ni ‘Pacman’.
