COVID-19 TEST KITS NA GAWA NG U.P., APRUBADO NA NG FDA

Matapos ang field validation noong Abril 1, inaprubahan na ng Food and Drug Administration Philippines (FDA) ang mga COVID-19 Test Kits na gawa ng Unibersidad ng Pilipinas.

Ang mga naturang test kits ay likha ng mga siyentipiko ng University of the Philippines – -National Institute of Health, na binigyang daan naman ng research and development firm nito na Manila HealthTek, Inc.

Ito ang kauna-unahang local-made test kits ng bansa, na ibinatay sa real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method. Ang proyektong ito ay pinondohan ng Department of Science and Technology at ng University of the Philippines-National Institutes of Health (UP-NIH) Project.

Matatandaang nauna nang inaprubahan noong Marso 10 ng FDA ang field trial and gene sequencing ng mga test kits.

Abril 3, matapos maipasa ang mga rekisitong hinihing ng FDA, nabigyan na rin ang mga COVID-19 test kits ng sertipikasyon para sa komersyal na paggamit.

Samantala, pinuri naman ni Senator Joel Villanueva, chairman ng Senate Higher and Technical and Vocational Education Committee ang paggawad ng sertipikasyon ng FDA sa mga naturang test kits. Pinasalamatan din ng senador ang inisytibo ng unibersidad sa paglikha ng mga test kits.

“With this development, we can expand our testing capability, identify and treat patients with dispatch. This breakthrough in our country’s fight against COVID-19 underscores the value we put into research initiatives of our state universities and colleges,” ani Senador Villanueva.
