‘Antigen testing nalang ang i-require kaysa RT-PCR test para mas dumami ang magtungo sa isla’ – Businessman Henry Chusuey

BORACAY ISLAND – Isinusulong ng negosyanteng si Henry Chusuey, may-ari ng ilang hotels sa Boracay, ang Covid-19 antigen test kapalit ng Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test para mabawasan ang bigat sa lokal na turista na nais magbakasyon sa isla.

Ipinahayag ito ni Chusuey sa news conference na ipinatawag ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque ngayong araw.

Kasalukuyang nasa Boracay si Roque para tulungang ikampanya ang Boracay sa mga lokal na turista.

“The island is not only as beautiful as before but is Covid-free, which makes it the best destination in this time of a pandemic,” saad nito.

“The situation in Boracay opened my eyes to the problems of our economy and tourism. Because of the pandemic, a lot of workers on the island have been affected, so I am here under the President’s order to support the initiatives to open our economy and tourism,” wika pa ni Roque.

Kaugnay ng isinusulong na antigen test, sinabi ni Chusuey na kahit binuksan na ang isla simula October 1, nawawalan ng sigla ang ilang turista dahil sa pagkaantala ng RT-PCR test result at gastos para sa test.

Ang antigen test ay ginagamit sa pagtukoy ng active infections sa mga pasyente.
Ang swab sample ay kinokolekta sa taong minomonitor para sa COVID-19 katulad ng pagproseso ng RT-PCR test. Umaabot ng 4-6 na oras bago lumabas ang resulta nito di gaya ng RT-PCR test na tumatagal ng hanggang tatlong araw.

“Especially now that tourism is not essential, the test will help unburden tourists from the prohibitive cost of a COVID test and encourage them to visit the island,” ani Chusuey, dagdag pa niya “The more tourists, the more employment.”

Nag-apela ang Ilonggo-Chinese businessman at philanthropist sa gobyerno na ikonsidera ang kanyang suhestiyon sa ngalan ng mga resort owners na nais nang bumalik sa regular na negosyo at magdagadg ng tao.

“The workers need to go back to earning their livelihood, but with few tourist arrivals, how is that possible?” wika nito.

Si Chusuey ang humahawak ng Hennan chain of hotels sa Boracay. Ngunit ayon dito, dahil sa pandemya, 20 sa 1,600 na silid nalang ang okupado mula nang magbukas ang isla noong October 1.

“Of the 2,200 employees we have, only 100 are active,” dagdag pa niya.

“Hopefully, Boracay could be a pilot for the antigen test to make it easier for tourists to come to the island,” ani Chusuey.

Sinabi naman ni Roque na napili na ng Department of Health (DOH) ang Baguio City sa pilot testing ng rapid antigen testing kasunod ng mga rekomendasyon na pag-aralan ang kapasidad nito na maharang ang kaso ng COVID-19.

Nauna nang ipinabatid ni Health Secretary Francisco Duque III na pinili ng DOH ang Baguio City dahil sa galing ng pamamahala ng lokal na gobyerno pagdating sa problema sa coronavirus, kasama na dito ang agresibo at organisadong contact tracing at pagpapalakas ng health management system.

“The pilot in Baguio City will help us assess whether rapid antigen tests can be adopted for official use or not. It will also determine if these tests are best performed when a person is still in the early stages of infection,” ayon kay Duque.
